The Duneland area was home to hundreds of Scandinavian immigrants throughout the 1800s and into the early 1900s. Scandinavian scholar Jim Nelson will present "Scandinavian Immigration to Indiana - Part 1" and detail some of the patterns on immigration and the reasons for settlement in this area.

"Kimball Cemetery Tour"
Wear your walking shoes and visit the headstones of noted settlers in Liberty Twp., Porter County. Docents will provide short biographies of these early citizens. Kimball Cemetery is located on 175 W at about 600 N. - Take US 6 to 200W stoplight. Go south to 700N. Turn left. Go 1/4 mile to 175W. Turn south almost 1 mile. Cemetery is on the right. We hope to see you there. Due to inclement weather, the tour is POSTPONED to September 23.

Richard Maxey will recount the history of the "Westchester Migratory Bird Sanctuary". Our meetings are free and open to the public, and they're interesting and informative in addition.
